Rotherham CYP Voluntary Sector Consortium

DHRinterim were initially engaged to develop a marketing strategy for the Consortium to enable it secure a greater share of the funds available for the delivery of services to children, young people and their families in and around Rotherham.

However, the commission grew both in scope and length, so that between November 2006 and January 2008 we have supported the Consortium through:

  • Developing and drafting the initial Marketing Strategy
  • Developing knowledge, understanding, skills and capacity of the Consortium
    • delivered a series of one-day workshops on the OJEU process and exploring what a successful tender might look like
  • Developing a collaborative partnership model, within which it was possible to continue the social and ethical aims of the Consortium, whilst enabling the desired engaging in commercial tendering
    • researching the developing models of collaboration which would be applicable to the third sector
    • facilitating discussions with the Consortium Steering Group with regard to how they wanted their organisation to evolve
    • establishing a Social Enterprise Company under which the Consortium could carry out commercial activities
  • Supporting individual organisations with bid developments and tender presentations
    • at the request of Consortium members, this support and capacity-building work was conducted by email and telephone - and in so doing, delivered value-for-money and a quick turnaround
  • Presenting at a 'showcase' marketing event to raise awareness of the voluntary commission sector amongst commissioners
    • attended by over 50 commissioners from around and beyond the Borough, this successful event was held on National Social Enterprise day, November 2007
    • included the official launch of the Social Enterprise - Independent Local Solutions (ILS)
