Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council

 

Engaged as part of the Corporate Transformation Team, DHRinterim were asked to act as Consultant Change Managers to the Adult Social Care Service and  provide capacity-building resources in support of their strategic change management programme.

Following on from work done by the Department of Health's Care Services Efficiency Delivery Team (CSED), our role was to assist Redcar & Cleveland's Adult Social Care team assess the practicalities of implementing the recommended changes to service design contained within the CSED report.

The assignment included the following activities:

  • undertaking a feasibility study into the practicalities of implementing the changes outlined in the CSED report
  • assessing the implications and savings potential of those changes, specific to Redcar & Cleveland's circumstances
  • acting as catalysts for change
  • providing external challenge to the in-house project teams
  • supporting the Service Management Team in embedding the desired changes
  • conducting the work to Prince 2 standards

The activities and recommendations reviewed in this assignment were:

  • The Blue Badge Disability Parking Scheme
  • The use of the Council's Call Centre/One-Stop-Shop/Website
    • for Initial Assessment of service requests
    • General Social Care Enquiries
  • The role of the Social Worker in 21st Century social care delivery
  • Introduction of new ways of working (mobile technologies) for Social Care staff

Whilst engaged on the above assignment, DHRinterim were asked to undertake a second piece of work to support the Adult Social Care Team

  • a review of the incumbent Social Care IT system and assessed its 'future fitness for purpose'
